I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your support for our life saving work with the most vulnerable girls here in Uganda.
Our goal is to ensure that each girl with an unwanted pregnancy is given holistic support and care.
Part of the therapeutic programs involves the pregnant girls assembling blankets for their new babies from squares knitted by volunteers. When each girl makes a baby blanket she is preparing for and bonding with her unborn child, saying "I have accepted this baby, my baby is innocent, I love my baby".
While at our centre, we receive and care for 100 young girls and their babies every year, it’s sad to say that we have a maternal mortality rate of 343 deaths per 100,000 births, which means at least 3,400 women/girls die giving birth in Uganda each year. Very young mothers are most at risk because they are more likely to have obstructed labors and other complications.
Your generous giving and prayers have enabled us to shelter and feed our girls, train them in skills as well as share the word of God.
Thank You! You have made a real difference in the lives of the girls and babies we serve here at Wakisa. Thank you WorldShare for protecting and saving the lives of mothers and children. Your support means the world to us.
